Art and Design Level 3 Extended Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

If you want to pursue a career in photography then this is an excellent place to start. This course explores visual and creative processes through a series of projects that develop drawing, thinking, and practical skills in both 2-dimensions and 3 dimensions and will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the various disciplines of art and design. During this course you will take a broad approach to photography and carry out projects that will allow you to experiment with different techniques. This course will consist of practical work and written assignments that will be developed through classroom and workshop activities, demonstrations, group and individual work. 
Upon successful completion you will be able to progress onto a Foundation or Higher National Diploma in Art.
During this course you will explore a wide range of subjects, such as: drawing; painting; illustration; printmaking; photography; Photoshop; fashion design; 3D design and textiles and ceramics.
Research and contextual studies underpin the understanding of contemporary and historical developments in art and design; gallery visits and a residential visit to support this area of study

 

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE’s including Mathematics, English and an Art of Design subject (minimum grade C) not including Expressive Arts, or a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design.
You will be required to attend an interview, where you will be required to show your art and design ability in a portfolio of artwork. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).

Assessment

Assessment is a combination of individual meetings and formal assessments, where work is submitted for grading.
