Engineering - Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Technology (Fabrication & Welding) at Wakefield College
There are three mandatory units:-
• Engineering environment awareness
• Engineering techniques
• Engineering principles
Topics covered include: Fabrication and welding principles, Organisational Efficiency and Improvement, MMA Welding, MIG/MAGS Welding, TIG Welding, Platework Fabrication, Managing Fabrication Activities, Hand fitting.
A combination of short answer tests, practical assignments, and online examination.
Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students. Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost. Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.
A Level 3 or Advanced Certificate in Fabrication/Welding.
Engineering craftsperson in the field of welding/fabrication. Welding knowledge is transferrable so you could move between a number of different industries such as civil engineering, engineering construction, agricultural engineering, vehicle manufacture and repair or shipbuilding. Promotion routes are possible to shift supervisor, workshop manager and with sufficient experience to welding inspection and quality control.
