Course description

Unit 1: Investigating Business
Students look at how a business meets its aims and objectives by using marketing, enterprise and teamwork. They visit a business early in the course and apply theory to the ‘real world’.
Assessment: Coursework

Unit 2: People in Business
Again with the advice of local business experts, students consider roles and responsibilities, recruitment and selection, and training and development.
Assessment: Coursework

Unit 3: Financial Planning and Monitoring
A more traditional unit of work that involves learning to apply the basic tools of financial management to business scenarios. Pre-release material arrives and is studied several weeks prior to the exam.
Assessment: External examination

Unit 8: Business Planning All students follow this unit, in which a business plan is prepared for a hypothetical business of their choice. This is an essential skill for those hoping to own and run a business of their own one day.

Other units are selected taking into account the individual skills of the group.
