Business and Administration Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Brooklands College
Anyone considering an office based career would benefit from taking an apprenticeship in Business Administration. You will improve and learn new communication skills, fine-tune your IT abilities and learn to use numbers to enhance business performance. Once you have gained your apprenticeship you could go on to become and administration assistant, a PA/secretary or an office co-ordinator.
An Apprenticeship in Business and Administration will develop your employability skills and give you valuable experience of routine business related activities. You will need to work in a business environment, working a minimum of 30 hours per week (including training time). Apprentices will need to have a contract of employment.
You will be working in an office environment, where your duties could encompass many areas of office work such as post and written communications, telephone communications, customer enquiries, computer systems, paper filing systems, photocopying etc. Your exact duties will depend upon your employer.
To gain the full apprenticeship you will work towards the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business Administration
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
- Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths, English, and ICT
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
- Communicate in a business environment
- Manage personal and professional development
- Principles of business communication and information
- Principles of administration
- Principles of business
Additional units can include:
- Support the organisation of an event
- Use electronic message systems
- Take minutes
- Order products and services
- Bespoke software
- Website software
Minimum grade C at GCSE in English and Maths are an advantage otherwise a minimum Level 1 qualification is required. You will need to demonstrate an interest in the business administration sector. All applicants for apprenticeship training will be required to attend an interview and undertake initial assessments.
You will be continually assessed throughout your training by either online programmes or by attendance at college. Most of the assessment will take place in the workplace to complete a portfolio of evidence, you will also take external and internal examinations for your functional skills (if required). Your progress will be reviewed regularly and achievable targets set, to ensure you complete your apprenticeship on time. You will need to complete all relevant functional skills if you have not achieved a minimum grade C at GCSE within the past 5 years.
Apprenticeships are fully funded for those aged 16- 18 years.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship you could progress on to a permanent position in a Business Setting, you may also look to work in a supervisory role.
