Health & Social Care - Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at East Surrey College

Course description

The Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health & Social Care is designed to reflect the work of candidates who provide support to service users within a range of Health and Social Care settings. The qualification is work based and supports the candidate to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to work in a supervisory role within a care environment.
 
The award will look at all aspects of the care worker’s role and its requirements, which include communication, health & safety, safeguarding and personal development. Within the candidates supervisory position we would anticipate that they would take accountability and demonstrate this within their role.

Candidates can undertake a number of pathways depending on their role. These routes include
• Dementia
• Adults with Learning Disabilities
• Generic pathway

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for an Apprenticeship but you must be in paid work for a minimum of 30 hours per week. It is essential you have the right mind-set for working full time and studying at the same time. Having a can-do attitude, being flexible and reliable are also important. You must also be able to communicate effectively with others.

Assessment

This qualification is work based and students are assessed on their ability to perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Students plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.
