AS/A2 Level in Travel and Tourism at Great Marlow School

Course description

This is a broad based qualification which encourages students to explore the breadth of the travel and tourism sector. It will simulate and sustain students’ interest in and enjoyment of the holiday industry and enable students to gain knowledge and understanding, as well as developing practical skills. In order to study this subject successfully you will need to be self-motivated and keen to research independently, using a wide range of sources. This is because two thirds of the qualification is achieved through the completion of substantial pieces of coursework.

Unit 1 – The Travel and Tourism Industry

Unit 2 – The Travel and Tourism Customer

Unit 3 – Destination Europe

Year 12 students may undertake one week’s work experience in a Travel and Tourism organisation to support their studies.

Unit 7 – Responsible Tourism

Unit 8 – Current Issues in Travel and Tourism

Unit 12 – Travel Organisations

Entry requirements

You do not need to have studied GCSE Travel and Tourism to be considered for this course. Students should have achieved at least a Grade C in their GCSE English Language and ideally at least a Grade C in Geography.
