Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 3 Certificate & Subsidiary Diploma at The Gryphon School

Course description

These qualifications have been designed to provide an all-round introduction to the travel and tourism sector for those who wish to further their careers in one of its many connected industries, including retail ravel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations.

The Edexcel BTEC Nationals in Travel & Tourism are designed to:

  • give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the travel and tourism sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Travel & Tourism
  • give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Entry requirements

5 Grade Cs or above at GCSE level

Assessment

Each unit of study will consist of a number of individual assignments which are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. On completion of these assignments you will achieve an overall grade for that particular unit, earning you points. At the end of Year 12, you will have the option to ‘cash in’ these points to achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction overall in the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Travel & Tourism (AS).
Alternatively, you may choose to continue into Year 13 and ‘cash in’ your points at the end to achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction overall in the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel & Tourism (A2).

There is no examination.

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Travel & Tourism (AS)

  • Distinction* is equivalent to one AS grade A* (70 UCAS points)
  • Distinction is equivalent to one AS grade A (60 UCAS points)
  • Merit is equivalent to one AS grade C (40 UCAS points)
  • Pass is equivalent to one AS grade E (20 UCAS points)

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel & Tourism (A2)

  • Distinction* is equivalent to one A2 grade A* (140 UCAS points)
  • Distinction is equivalent to one A2 grade A (120 UCAS points)
  • Merit is equivalent to one A2 grade C (80 UCAS points)
  • Pass is equivalent to one A2 grade E (40 UCAS points)
