BTEC Sport National Diploma at Isleworth & Syon School for Boys

Course description

Year 1 9 Modules including The Body in Sport, Fitness and Training for Sports Performance and Working with Children in Sport. Students also get the opportunity to complete at least 1 NGB coaching qualification, a First Aid qualification and work with Children from both Isleworth & Syon and local Primary Schools. Year 2 9 Modules including Talent Identification and Development in Sport, Work-based Experience in Sport and Outdoor adventure Activities. Students also get the opportunity to complete 2 weeks work experience, an Outdoor Pursuits week, and to gain a refereeing/officiating qualification. How you will be assessed: This course is 100% coursework based and assessment takes many forms. Students will have to make presentations, complete assignments, produce posters, and make videos. Why take this subject: If you have an interest in sport and would like to study sport at university, or perhaps work in the leisure industry then this qualification will give you an ideal start. Candidates should have achieved at least 4 GCSE passes including English, Maths and Physical Education. There will be some extra costs associated with participation on this course (for example the outdoor pursuits week) but it is hoped to keep these to a minimum. Students will also be expected to purchase BTEC National sports kit for their practical sessions.
