Animal Management Extended Certificate Level 3 at Bexhill College

Course description

Animal management is a rapidly developing sector with many different career paths and opportunities for those wanting to work with animals. 

Course content

There are 5 units covered:
• Animal welfare and ethics
• Practical animal husbandry
• Animal behaviour
• Animal health and disease
• Work experience in the animal sector

Entry requirements

At Least 4-5 GCSEs Graded 9-4 Or A*-C. Relevant Experience Such As Working With Or Having Animals Is Helpful.


There is an exam to assess the unit on animal welfare based upon 6 hours of research on a scenario set by the exam board. The remaining units are assessed via internal assignments.

Financial information

You will spend 75 hours on work placement and there will be guest speakers and visits. You should be prepared to pay £10 - £20 towards the cost of some visits.

Future opportunities

If taken along with other Level 3 BTEC or A Level courses it will allow entry to university for courses such as Zoology, Animal Studies and Animal Science as well as unrelated courses. It will also provide valuable experience for those wanting to do an apprenticeship or gain employment in the animal sector such as animal charities, pet shops and kennels.
