Music Level 1 Diploma at New College Nottingham
This course is perfect if you’ve just started to play a musical instrument, want to develop your skills as a musician and learn how to read and play music. You’ll perform to live audiences and get lots of practice and rehearsal time in one of our many studios.
You’ll study at our ncn Clarendon campus which has a great history and reputation for all types of performing arts. You’ll be supported by excellent tutors and be surrounded by creative people from all different backgrounds.
Music can lead on to a range of careers including performing, teaching, recording and engineering and you could even use your music skills to work in childcare or as a therapist.
This course is designed to give you a great introduction to performing music, to develop your musical ability with an instrument(s) or singing, and to give you experience performing on your own or in a band.
This course includes units designed to develop your skills in:
- Singing or playing in a band
- Playing an instrument
- Reading music
You’ll also gain an insight into the music business and learn about the history of the music industry.
Students must have ALL of the following:
- 3 GCSEs or equivalent
- A satisfactory interview
- Successful assessment activities including literacy & numeracy
Adults 19+ who have industry experience but do not have the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.
This course is aimed at those just starting to play an instrument.
The assessment process is based on practical tasks, projects and productions, supported by a record of written evidence.
