Course description

AS and A Level courses based on this specification will encourage you to: • develop and extend your knowledge, understanding and skills needed to participate in, and communicate through dance, in a variety of contexts • foster imagination and creativity, and promote personal and social development • engage in appreciation of the diverse, dynamic heritage of dance, promoting spiritual, moral and cultural development • encourage life-long learning and provide access to dance and dance-related interests and careers.

Minimum Grade D at AS Level

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as Music, Drama or Performing Arts to prepare for higher education in Dance or more general higher education courses. You could also complement the course by studying the Advanced GCE in Performing Arts which offers a more vocational approach to the subject. With further training you could go into a job related to Dance such as a Choreographer, Dance Teacher or you may wish specialise in an area of dance such as ballet and perform on the stage as a professional dancer. The course also helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially within the performing sectors.
