Drama - Performing Arts (Acting): OCR Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting) (Block B) at The Folkestone Academy

Course description

This course will give you a broad introduction to the performing arts sector with an emphasis on core knowledge and fundamental skills which are transferable across other sectors (including communication, presentation, physical and creative skills). You will develop physical techniques as well as wider transferable skills, such as being able to work collaboratively, personal management and organisation (rehearsals, time-management), being able to give and take direction, confidence in front of an audience, problem solving (refining the process) and teamwork (essential when working as a group).

Learners will understand different audiences in different environments and will learn to adapt a performance to engage the target audience. Vocational education is not just about results, it’s about educating people in the knowledge and skills required for employment and for the community as a whole. It’s also about developing the behaviours and attributes needed to progress and succeed in education and in work.

A wide range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units on Prepare to work in the performing arts sector, Proposal for a commissioning brief, Influential performance practice, Arts administration, and Original performance has resulted in focused qualifications.
