Physics AS and A-level at Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre
This qualification will give students opportunities to use relevant apparatus and
techniques to develop and demonstrate specific practical skills. These skills must be
assessed through a minimum of 12 identified practical activities within each
AS level Paper 1 includes: Working as a Physicist;
Mechanics; Electric Circuits.
Paper 2: Core Physics 2 Includes: Working as a Physicist; Materials; Waves and Particle nature of Light
A level Physics Paper 1:Advanced Physics 1 Includes: Working as a Physicist;
Mechanics; Electric Circuits; Further Mechanics; Electric and Magnetic Fields;
Nuclear and Particle Physics.
Paper 2: Advanced Physics 2. Paper: 1 Includes: Working as a Physicist;
Materials; Waves and Particle nature of Light; Thermodynamics; Space; Nuclear radiation; Gravitational Fields; Oscillations.
Paper 3: General and Practical Principles in Physics Includes: All topics from the specification; Science Practical Endorsement.
Although it is not a requirement it is an advantage to be studying Maths A level
alongside Physics A level.
AS and A-Level examinations.
Physics is suitable for students who wish to make a career in all branches of engineering and is a well-respected A-level for most other careers.
