This is a vocational, work-based course which allows you to earn while you learn. It is ideal if you wish to gain valuable work experience and training within a hospitality environment and gain a nationally recognised qualification. We have a variety of Hospitality vacancies with local employers, have a look and apply here.

Course content

What qualifications will I gain?

The Catering Apprenticeship is made up of the following elements:

  • A Nationally recognised Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
  • Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles
  • Functional Maths
  • Functional English
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

This is a full-time, permanent work-based Apprenticeship in catering. You enjoy on-the-job training towards nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, guided by our professional assessors who provide one-to-one support and advice throughout your programme.

You usually start your training at Level 2, depending on your qualifications and ability. We identify this at your initial assessment.

What skills will I learn?

The course content will vary depending on the needs of the job and can include:

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of menu items
  • Presenting menu items according to a defined brand standard
  • Using a variety of cooking techniques and methods
  • Developing culinary skills and knowledge
  • Maintaining food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
  • Working effectively as part of a hospitality team

Entry requirements

Who should apply?

Anyone can apply for this course who is interested in a hospitality career path. As long as you are aged 16 to 64 and not in full-time education at the time you want to start your Apprenticeship we can help. You might already have a job and be looking for work-based training, or you might want to find a job that comes with training through esg. We have great relationships with hundreds of local and national businesses and will help you find your career path.School leavers who are interested in a hospitality career. You can apply for this course if you are interested in working within a hotel, restaurant, cafĂ©, fast food outlet, residential home and hospital environment.
