Sports at The De La Salle Academy

Course description

Physical Education at The De La Salle Academy aims to stimulate and challenge students of all ages by providing a wide range of sporting activities. All students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 follow the National Curriculum in Physical Education, which aims to develop student competence, promote physical skilfulness and provide opportunities for students to be creative, competitive and face up to a variety of different challenges. Inter-house competitions and tournaments are a regular feature of school life and the PE department annually produces lists of its achievements detailing results and awards in all sports and activities.

Course content

Students can choose to study level 2 & 3 courses including GCSE & A Level PE, Nationals in Sport and many sport leadership & coaching qualifications. Physical Education is proven to improve self confidence, self discipline, and concentration, and encourages the development of leadership and team work skills. It also leads young people into healthier lifestyles. There is also emerging increasing evidence that high quality PE and school sport leads to better attendance, behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
