Music Technology BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Walton High
The level 3 BTEC Diploma in Music Technology will not only teach students a wide range of music technology skills but also equip learners to work in a variety of jobs in the sector or to continue on to higher education in the field.
Throughout the course students will study units that enable them to record professional tracks in our purpose-build recording studio, to sequence tracks using our professional software to develop their musical and technological listening skills as well as to set up and run live events in our 380 seat theatre. In addition learners will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of specialist projects that will allow them to focus on an area that interests them most or would be most relevant to their continues involvement in sound work.

6 GCSEs (A*-C) or above is preferred, including English Language, Maths and Music.
No formal examination. The course is entirely assignment based though does contain two units of externally set and assessment work.
Level 3 BTECs are awarded either , Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction.
Students will be required to purchase a high quality set of headphones to use. Advice on the specification of headphones will be given at the start of the course.
The course is assessed through 100% coursework which is internally and externally moderated and allows for all learners to have a practical, hands on experience of the world of music technology. It offers an excellent set of skills for all areas of audio production, be that recording, mixing, composing in further education or a career in a related field.
