Popular Music BTEC Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This exciting music course will give you the opportunity to develop your musical, performance and theory skills. This is achieved through practical study with experienced lecturers and opportunities to work with industry professionals.

You can rehearse and record your own music in our purpose-built, industry standard studios, leading to live gigs in the College’s performance spaces and at professional music venues.

You will learn the wider aspects of putting on performances, including DJ skills. You will study the music business and music theory in preparation for a career in music.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade D or above and a two-minute audition demonstrating your practical/performance skills.

Future opportunities

Successful students can progress to the BTEC Level 3 or an alternative Level 3 Popular Music programme. You could progress into employment or an Apprenticeship to further your skills.

Career pathways or further study could lead to work as a DJ, musician, music retailer, performer, music journalist, radio presenter and more. You may need further opportunities to develop your skills to be able to follow a career in these areas.

 

Further information

Instrumentalists must provide their own instruments for practice and performance study in our purpose-built rehearsal rooms. Each studio is equipped with guitar amplifiers & PA equipment.
