Chemistry at Shaftesbury School
Almost every problem facing the world today, global warming, alternative energy and outbreaks of flu pandemic, will require chemistry and chemists to find the answers. Opportunities and salaries for chemists will grow with this need. Chemistry is currently experiencing the equivalent career prospects, in terms of income potential to graduates, that ICT experienced in the seventies. This is reflected in enrolment figures in the United States, where it shows the highest increase for any subject over the last five years.Entry requirements and skills needed: Minimum grade B in GCSE Additional Science (or GCSE Chemistry) and C in Maths. About half of the topics are mathematical, so you need to be reasonably good at handling decimals, graphs, equations and formulae.
General entry requirement for Level 3 is 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C incl. English Language and Maths. Subject specific entry requirements: Minimum grade B in GCSE Additional Science (or GCSE Chemistry) and C in Maths.
