Geography at Cheam High School
Geographers learn data analysis, they learn about geographical information Systems (giS) and how they can turn maps from a two-dimensional representation of a country’s physical contours into a tool that illustrates social attributes or attitudes: not just where people live, but how, what they think and how they vote.
Unit 1 Dynamic Landscapes (30%)
• Tectonic processes
• Landscape systems
• Water security
• Energy security
• Climate change futures
Unit 2 Dynamic Places (30%)
• Shaping places
• Global development
Unit 3 Synoptic Unit (20%)
Synoptic unit that combines Unit 1 and 2 - includes players, attitudes and actions and futures.
Unit 4 Coursework, Independent investigation (20%) An independent investigation on any geographical topic of your choice.
GCSE grade C in English and a grade C or above in Higher Tier Geography.
