Course description

This qualification is ideal for professionals who want to work in administrative support roles in public or private sector organisations, or people who want to improve their administrative and supervisory skills. One of the great things about business and administration is that you can work almost anywhere.

Course content

You will develop and demonstrate skills and knowledge within a workplace to achieve:

  • Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT at Level 2 (exempt if you have achieved GCSE grades A* to C in the last five years)

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

The programme is accessible to all those who work in an Administrative Role either in the public or private sector. You will need to demonstrate English, Maths and ICT skills at Level 1 (assessed at interview) and be in a role that allows you to demonstrate the required skills to achieve the qualifications.


You will develop an electronic portfolio of evidence from the workplace which will be assessed against the requirements of the qualification. On-line tests will be used to confirm your knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the role and policies and procedure in place at the workplace.

Further information

A significant amount of the job training is undertaken in the workplace. This is a demanding but interesting course which should be achieved in less than 18 months but will require you to complete study in your own time. Most jobs in this sector are office-based with a typical 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday working week. It is important you are punctual, presentable and a good team player.
