To gain an apprenticeship in the RAF you still need to meet all of the entry requirements for whichever role it is for and get through all stages of the application process. You will gain the apprenticeship as part of your phase two (trade) training.
The specialist training provided by Number 1 Radio School, DSCIS Cosford a first-class training establishment that is both a Microsoft and CISCO Accredited Training Academy, is widely recognised by civilian industry. Students also regularly undertake sporting activities and assist in local community projects which develop and enhance essential skill-sets including; communication, leadership, team bonding and decision making; in tandem with airmanship qualities and complimentary personal attributes. The incorporation of Functional Skills has been strongly influenced by employer feedback, indicating the need for a workforce who could develop and apply problem solving strategies; over a range of testing and unfamiliar scenarios. Continual learner support and progression reviews are provided and regularly monitored throughout their training course, and continue for a period of at least a year on posting to their new unit, to help improve and consolidate individual learning performance.
