Physical Education AS/A2 at Bideford College

Course description

At AS level, students will develop their knowledge and skills to help them understand theopportunities for and the effects of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. Students will be giventhe opportunity to build on their experience and improve their personal skills/techniques acrossa variety of roles and in a range of sports in order to improve their performance. At A2, students further develop their understanding of physiological, psychological andbiomechanical aspects that optimise performance. Students will also explore and evaluate theimpact of contemporary issues such as technology on sport and the performer. Students will begiven the opportunity to utilise their own knowledge and understanding developed during thecourse to improve their own personal performance, as a practical performer, coach/leader orofficial.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C GCSE's including maths and English. If GCSE PE has been taken at least a grade C inthe theory will be required. Any A level PE student needs to be participating seriously in a sportoutside school each week in order to complete their practical coursework requirement.
