Course description

What the subject is about: Physics is possibly the most exciting part of all science and technology. It explains everything from quarks to quasars, bosons to black holes and deals with both living and inanimate systems. Physics is about the fundamental principles which govern the behaviour of our world and universe. Topics include particles, waves, electricity and mechanics. Physics principles are then applied to the fields of medicine, communications and nuclear instability. Problem solving and practical work (singly or in small groups) are important aspects of the course. The relevance of physics in the modern world is emphasised throughout the course. Engineering, accountancy, law, medicine and science careers can all follow from a qualification in Physics. It is an enjoyable and interesting course. There is practical emphasis, showing relevance of the subject to everyday life.
