Extended Project at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form

Course description

The Extended Project provides a marvelous opportunity for you to acquire and develop skills in research, critical analysis and project management. 

You will undertake a project on a topic entirely of your choice.  The skills acquired from the Extended Project will prove to be of great value when you move on to Higher Education. 

Leading universities welcome the EPQ as an indicator of realised skills and potential ability in the fiercely competitive application process.

At Thomas Whitham Sixth Form, as an EPQ candidate, you will attend a weekly tutorial and have an individual Supervisor who will support and guide you throughout.

The culmination of all our students research is displayed at our annual EPQ Presentation Evening in September.


Course content

Unit One:  A 5000 word research project (or an artifact and a 1000 word research project), a log book and a Presentation record.

Entry requirements

Enrolled on 3 A Level subjects at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form.

Future opportunities

Students have gone on to:

University of Oxford to study History, University of Manchester to study Politics, University of Durham to study Physics, to name but a few!
