Course description

Do you think that you’re a cut above the rest? If you have a keen sense of style and the drive to succeed in the hair and beauty industry, the Hairdressing Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship could be perfect for you. Learn the basics of hairdressing and get the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and products.

This is an exciting industry where no two days are the same as fashion dictates constant change. This Apprenticeship provides you with the skills needed for a career in hairdressing. Interacting with clients, hair preparation and keeping the salon looking good are all activities which will help you fully experience the day to day needs of a busy salon. You will need to be outgoing, have excellent communication skills and be prepared to deliver a high level of customer service.

Course content

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing units include:
 
• Basic Cutting Techniques 
• Basic Hair Colouring Techniques 
• Client Care & Consultation 
• Health & Safety 
• Shampoo & Conditioning Hair & Scalp  
 
Additional Study
 
• Functional Skills in Maths & English 
• Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) 
• Employee Rights & Responsibilities 
 

Entry requirements

  • Employment within the industry 
  • 3 GSES 9-3 (A*-D)

Assessment

College attendance will be one day per week and an assessor will visit you in your workplace once a month to assess your competence and help you build a portfolio of evidence.
