Sport - BTEC First Certificate & Diploma at Hurstmere School

Course description

The course comprises the following six study units: • The Sports Industry • Health, Safety and Injury • Preparation for Sport • Sports Leadership • The Sports Performer • Practical Sports A majority of the course is classroom and assignment-based. By definition, the Practical Sport and Sports Leadership modules will be active. What are the Qualifications worth? • A ‘Pass’ at Diploma Level is recognised to be equivalent to 4 GCSE passes at Grade ‘C’ (160pts). • A ‘Merit’ at Diploma Level is recognised to be equivalent to 4 GCSE passes at Grade ‘B’ (184pts). • A ‘Distinction’ at Diploma Level is recognised to be equivalent to 4 GCSE passes at Grade ‘A’ (220 pts). Can I study BTEC sport AND GCSE PE if I want to? Yes.

Future opportunities

With further training or study, you can go into careers such as Sports Management, coaching, Leisure Centres and Outdoor Activities Centres, as well as Sport-related courses in Further and Higher Education.
