Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery Level 1 at West Kent College

Course description

A first step into the construction industry, focusing on carpentry and joinery skills. This course could lead to further development of your skills through an Apprenticeship.

You will learn and practice a range of skills in wood occupations to prepare you for work in a construction or a furniture-related craft. You will take practical assessments, knowledge tests and externally set exams.

Supported work experience is arranged with your tutor.

English and maths are an important part of the course, whether at functional skills or GCSE level.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D-G/3-1, including English and maths at minimum Grade E/2.

Future opportunities

Progress on to a Intermediate Apprenticeship in Wood Trades or Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying full time.
