Apprenticeships - Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair at Wakefield College
Start Dates: September, January and March
The course is aimed at individuals employed in the motorcycle industry.
What you will study
* Motorcycle workshop environment studies
* Remove and refit motorcycle components
* Diagnose motorcycle faults
How you will learn
Candidates' knowledge will be enhanced by a mixture of classroom work and practical assignments in the college's motorcycle workshops.
A good general education and the will to succeed in these qualifications. You will also need to have overalls and safety boots.
College based practical assignments are carried out, and knowledge is assessed by a series of multichoice examinations. Assessment also takes place in the workplace and will cover seven mandatory units:
Health and safety
Remove and replace components
Plus two of the following options depending on work opportunities:
Enhance vehicle system features
Overhaul basic electrical units
Process payment for purchase
Place goods/materials in storage
These fees relate to 2013/14
There are no costs to students aged between 16 and 18.

Progress onto Level 3 which includes diagnosis and rectification of complex faults, and overhaul of units fitted to motorcycles.
