BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music (Performing) at Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy
BTEC Music is an excellent subject for those who wish to add a creative and practical element to their studies, developing skills for success in the work place.The music industry is a very diverse but difficult industry to work in. If you are interested in working in the music industry this qualification will give you an insight into what it is really like as well as giving you lots of opportunities to develop the variety of skills needed to be a performer.
You will cover several different aspects of music performance including group and solo performance in a variety of contexts. Within these units you will develop as a member of an ensemble and individual building up on your instrumental/vocal skills to become a confident performer. You will perform a variety of different styles and genres to a variety of different audiences. As well as developing your performance skills you will also be involved in the planning and production of school events to give you an insight into the roles behind the scenes in the music industry, not just that of a performer.
You will have to research different areas and roles, giving presentations and keeping a diary of the skills you have learnt.

It is essential that you can play an instrument/sing if you wish to take this course and will be comfortable performing in front of an audience both as a soloist and as a member of a group.
