Applied Art & Design at Bodmin College
Double and Single Award.
This course is equivalent to two A-Levels and involves twice as many lessons as the Fine Art course.
Students will be required to complete 12 units, of which 3 are externally set. These are completed throughout the course and therefore, there are no final exams. The work for this course is very process based and vocational links with artists, designers and the school and local communities are made. An example of this is the art work that was created for Bodmin Hospital.
There is a Professional Practice unit which is partly about researching career options but also the students organise an arts event. This has been a Craft fair or a Fashion Show.
A grade C or above at GCSE is expected, but for those students who have not taken Art at GCSE, evidence of ability and commitment will be essential. Students will be expected to buy a sketchbook and for some projects may need to buy more specialist materials if this is what they chose to do e.g. printing large photographs etc.
