Chemistry - AS at The Crest Academies
Students are introduced to the ideas of chemistry and their application to a variety of contexts, both everyday and more specialized. Their understanding of how science works in Chemistry is deepened. This course will be taught in 6 lessons per week. Some of the time will be set aside for practical work. Practical skills will be developed and assessed in these lessons. Homework will be set on a weekly basis and is an essential part of the course. Mock exams will take place every half term. Students will sit unit F321 in January, 2013 and F322 in the summer of 2013.
A grade B at GCSE level in Chemistry or BB in Additional and Core Science is essential. Ideally, a B grade or higher will equip the student with the necessary background required for A-Level. Students need reasonably good mathematical skills including graphical skills and algebra. It is important to note that written communication will be assessed in student’s written work.
