Health and Social Care BTEC National Diploma at Riverside College Halton

Course content

This advanced level course offers you an academic qualification and covers a variety of subject areas in all aspects of care. You will complete 18 units in total including: - Equality, diversity and rights in health & social care - Developing effective communication in health & social care - Health, safety & security in health and social care - Life Span development health and social care services provision - Personal and professional development in health and social care Supervised work placement (100 hrs) is an integral part of the course. You will also study a range of Key Skills. Key Skills enables you to demonstrate employability in the workplace and they are a compulsory part of the course.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English


Continuous assessment through course work and work placement experience. Some units will be subject to external assessment.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this nationally recognised qualification can lead directly to employment in the caring services. Alternatively, you can progress in to higher education, such as degrees in nursing, midwifery and the probation service.
