Caring for Children CACHE Level 1 Diploma at Southport College

Course description

This course will provide you with a basic knowledge and understanding of the key areas in caring for children and the principles and values that govern the provision of childcare and education. The course will enable you to develop both personal skills and basic skills in caring for children.

Course content

You will learn about a range of subject areas, including: 
Personal development 
Human growth and development 
Healthy eating 

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade E, a Diploma at Entry Level 3 or equivalent
Satisfactory College assessment in English and maths 
Satisfactory DBS*
Successful interview 
Satisfactory reference 
Satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check 


You will be continuously assessed throughout the course through internal tasks. You will be given the opportunity to attend a childcare related work placement for up to three block weeks. This work placement does not qualify you to practice.

Students may purchase course text books to use at home.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course, you may progress on to a related Level 2 course either in Childcare, Public Services Health and Social Care or one of the many Level 2 qualifications in the college.
