Hair and Beauty - Level 1 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector at Yorkshire Coast College
This is an introductory course that allows you the opportunity to experience both hair and beauty before specialising in your chosen area
The aim of this programme is to allow students to learn, develop and practice the skills needed for a future career in either the hairdressing or beauty therapy sector.
The units studied will enable you to gain a general understanding of the range of services and treatments available, and include:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image
- Follow health & safety in the salon
- Shampoo & condition hair
- Styling hair
- Skin care
- Provide basic manicure
- Working in the hair & beauty sector
- Provide basic pedicure
- Salon reception duties
No formal entry requirements are required but you will be expected to have a positive attitude and have good attendance.
On successful completion of the qualification, candidates may progress to a level 2 programme in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
After further study a career in Beauty Therapy can offer you an endless number of exciting career opportunities. Our region has lots of Spas, Hotels and Salons that are all crying out for your talents, and don’t forget that you could always set up your own mobile business or travel the world as a Therapist on a Cruise Liner, offering treatment to passengers.
The local average annual wage on entry into a career in Beauty Therapy – depending on qualification – is £ 10,000 plus
