Course description

Units Studied ‐ Year 12
G040 – Using ICT to communicate
This unit allows the students to ‘up skill’ themselves and present a variety of documents including reportscomparing business documents and six other documents including a presentation
G041 – How organisations use ICT
This unit looks at how organisations are structured, use and exchange information and how ICT offers new opportunities. Students evaluate how well ICT supports organisations and helps the flow of information.
G042 – Solutions for individuals and society
The www allows individuals to access information on almost any topic. For this unit the students will produce a presentation on the results of an investigation, which includes numerical data.
Units Studied ‐ Year 13
G048 – Working to a brief
This unit helps the students improve their performance and working relationships through the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of an ICT project. The project will be set by OCR.
G051 – Publishing
This unit is run in conjunction with Unit 9 and the students use DTP to create a publication as required by the exam board.
G053 – Developing and creating websites
This unit allows the students to create a ‘live’ web‐site on a subject of their own choice. Domain names are purchased and the sites are uploaded to the www
Method of Assessment
In Year 12 two units are coursework (G040 and G042) and there is one external exam (G041). In Year 13 all the units are coursework.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths.
