English Language at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College

Course description

At AS level the following units are covered: - ENGB1: Categorising Texts
This unit is an introduction to the study of
language, focusing on two specific social
contexts: Language and Gender and Language
and Technology. - ENGB2: Creating Texts
The aim here is for you to produce writing in
different genres and for different audiences
and for different purposes.
At A2 level the following units are covered: - ENGB3: Developing Language
This unit will build on your AS knowledge
and skills, with an additional focus on two
new areas of language study: Child Language
Acquisition and Language Change. - ENGB4: Investigating Language
In this unit you will produce two pieces of
coursework: a language investigation and an
informative media text.

Entry requirements

In order to be considered for this course you must have a grade B at GCSE level in English Language. A GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics will also be an advantage.
