Design Photography Level 3 Extended Diploma at Amersham and Wycombe College

Course description

This course is for those with an artistic bent who want to progress within the photography industry.


Course content

Motivating assignments permit you to explore their creative potential with a range of traditional silver based methods and contemporary digital practices. A range of studio, darkroom and computer aided design techniques are on offer to stretch and challenge individual learners. This course has been designed to accommodate a variety of educational learning styles with the focus on both vocational and academic practice. You will be encouraged to work in an environment linked to current industry practice and will have the opportunity to attend educational visits, meet with visiting lecturers and study professional practices.
Year 1 course = 90 credit Diploma
Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C or above of which one must be English or Maths OR successful completion of a Level 2 qualification including a pass at English and Maths. A portfolio may also be required or an assessed task to check skill level.


Continuous assessment through practical work, assignments and project led exercises with a final major project in the final term.


Future opportunities

Students can progress into higher education on a related course, or go straight into industry, by, for example starting their own business.
