Creative Media Production BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Leyton Sixth Form College

Course description

This is a practical work-related course. It is aimed at students who wish to pursue a vocational media course that also prepares them for Advanced level courses such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production or for employment. It is equivalent to four GCSE grades A*-C.

Course content

You will develop practical skills to enable you to produce your own media products as well as developing your writing skills. You will research and analyse media, look at careers in media industries and writing for the media, and will produce videos, print products, photography and video editing. You will meet and work with a range of Industry Practitioners and will be expected to attend a programme of film screenings essential to your course.

 

Entry requirements

You should have GCSE grades A*-D which should include at least a D/4 in English Language, or a Merit or Distinction in an appropriate level 1 course. You will need to show a piece of media work at interview.

Future opportunities

Many of our students choose to go to study BTEC Creative Media Production: Level 3 Extended Diploma which in turn leads to Media and related degrees at university. These include Media Production, Film and TV Studies, Sports and Media, Multimedia production, Journalism, and Marketing.

What are the enrichment opportunities as part of this subject?

There are trips including visits to TV studios and free film screenings.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in community media projects. We have strong links with media professionals and we regularly invite them to the College to work with students.
