Course description

This course will develop your knowledge of working in health, social care and young people’s settings. It is about exploring new ideas and effective communication.

Who is the course suitable for?
If you have an interest in health and social care, this course will help you find out if you have a vocation within the health and social care industry.

Course content

The course includes the following units:

- Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care
- Understand the principles and values in health and social care
- Awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care
- Introduction to communication in health and social care

You will also take functional skills in:

- English
- Maths
- Information Technology

Entry requirements

You need GCSE passes grade D or below.

Through assignments and projects.

Financial information

Your tutor will advise you on any additional costs at the start of the course. 
Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

If you successfully complete this course, you could move on to more advanced study, such as the BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Health & Social Care, or you could enter employment in the Health and Social Care industry e.g. as a residential care assistant.
