Renewable Operations - Hydro Engineering Apprenticeship at SSE Services PLC

Course description

SSE has 79 Hydro Power Stations, 200km of aqueducts and a water storage capacity of 3200 million m3. Hydro Apprentices are trained in both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines and spend the first 18 months at college full time completing the SVQ Level 2 qualification, Performing Engineering Operations (PEO2) and completing the National Certificate in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Following this, the remainder of the programme will be based on site working towards collecting evidence to complete the programme. 

Entry requirements

No specific work experience is required for our apprentice programme.

However you’ll need 4 GCSE’s grade A-C / Nationals at grade 4-5 (previously Standard grade 3 or above) in Maths, English and a Science or craft subject.

Depending on the course you choose, you may be required to take an Ishihara Colour Vision test.
