Course description

If you are interested in finding out how society works and want to gain a deeper understanding of the world around you and look at social issues then you should consider sociology.

Studying sociology will make you more aware of the society in which you exist in and enable you to gain a valuable insight into human social behaviour.

Anyone interested in crime & society should consider this course.

Course content

You will study a wide range of interesting and exciting sociological topics over the two years and will have the opportunity to develop a broad set of essential academic skills, including the ability to analyse and formulate clear, logical arguments with scope for extensive evaluation from a range of theoretical perspectives.

Entry requirements

  • At least 8 GCSEs including English and Maths
  • An average point score appropriate for your chosen pathway from all your GCSE subjects

Future opportunities

Sociology is a pathway to many careers and undergraduate programmes in teaching, journalism, criminology, nursing, social work, business, the legal profession and the armed forces; in fact any profession where you have to deal with people and consider their backgrounds.
