Performing and Production Arts (Technical Theatre) Level 3 Diploma at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

Do you want to study in a stimulating performing arts environment with a variety of professionals and practitioners working in the industry? If so, the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Technical Theatre is the course for you! Study will combine both practical and theoretical subjects which will enable you to develop your understanding of technical theories; business methods employed in the creative sector and your practical rehearsal and production skills. This course is ideally suited to anyone seeking to study Technical Theatre at a specialist Performing Arts School and/or university or for those intending to work in a Technical Theatre related industry such as events and festivals.

Entry requirements

You will need to have at least one of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grade C / grade 4 or above including English Language, or;
  • Level 2 qualification in a relevant vocational subject area and GCSE English Language at grade C / grade 4 or above.

You will also be required to attend an audition workshop.

Mature students without formal qualifications who show commitment to the subject area may join the course following a successful interview and audition.


You will be assessed through the completion of assignments and production-related projects throughout the course. Attendance and application in all areas is essential for successful completion.
