Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Scarborough Sixth Form College

Course description

This course will give you an excellent foundation for a career in the travel industry and provides a good grounding for either further study or employment within the industry. The course has a wide range of visits and guest speakers from a week in Disneyland Paris to a performance skills workshop with Magic Mike as well as careers advice sessions from former students.

Course content

Course Modules:

  • The world of travel and tourism
  • Global destinations
  • Managing the customer experience
  • Travel and tourism enterprises
  • Researching current issues in travel and tourism
  • The UK as a destination

Plus optional units including:

  • The airport experience
  • The cruise industry
  • Visitor attractions
  • Work experience in travel and tourism
  • Events, conferences and exhibitions

Entry requirements

You will need to meet the level 3 BTEC entry requirements


Most units are assessed through course work with a small number examined. Coursework assessments vary from written reports, displays, presentations, role plays and event planning

Future opportunities

Career Opportunities: Many of the students decide to progress to University to study tourism or related degrees. Others are currently working as:
