Design and Technology (Product Design) at Calday Grange Grammar School

Course description

The AQA Specification 2550 has been designed to encourage candidates to take a broad view of technology and design, to develop their capacity to design and make products and to appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufac-ture and marketing. Design and Technology offers candidates an opportunity to gain personal satisfaction and a positive experience from working with a variety of materials. The practical problem solving processes in this specification will encourage independent learning, creativity and innovation.

Entry requirements

It is helpful but not necessary for candidates to have studied GCSE Design and Technology before commencing work on this specification. The subject is not material specific and students are encouraged to experiment in a material base of which they are unfamiliar. Students should have lively, enquiring minds and should have a keen interest in Design.
