Sport Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

There’s never been a better time to get involved in the sport and leisure industry, especially for young people as the sector employs a large number of 16 to 24 year olds. If you have a passion for sport, this is the course for you.

Course content

The course examines sports performance and the sports industry:

  • Fitness testing and training

  • Anatomy and physiology

  • Injury in sport

  • Practical sport

  • Development of personal fitness

  • Effects of exercise on the body systems

There will be opportunities to improve your English and maths and take part in GAP work placements. It’s also possible to gain coaching awards.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (A*-D) or successful completion of Level 1 programme. You will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

You’ll gain the skills you need to find work or progress your studies to a higher level. You can progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. Alternatively, you can start work straight away in the leisure industry – in sports coaching or as a sports assistant, for instance.
