Plumbing Intermediate Apprenticeship at Weymouth College

Course description

Apprenticeships are designed by employers for employers and are tailored to meet the needs of each specific sector. An apprenticeship will allow you to get qualified, get paid and get a career all in one go! As a Plumbing apprentice, you will learn about the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components. You could undertake such tasks as maintenance of domestic hot water, cold water, sanitation, drainage, rainwater systems, central heating systems and components. As a plumber you could find yourself working in many different places from homes to construction sites. At Weymouth College we have excellent workshop facilities and dedicated teaching staff who will guide you through your Apprenticeship programme. You will also be allocated a Work- Based Learning Support Officer, who will carry out on-site assessments and liaise with the work-based team to achieve a smooth and successful completion of your Apprenticeship. 

Course content

2 year programme with 1 day a week at college • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing & Heating • Functional Skills maths and English Level 1 • Employer rights and responsibilities.

Entry requirements

You will be able to work at GCSE Grade C level or have the minimum of 2 GCSE’s or equivalent grade C or above in Maths and English. No previous experience is required but a real interest in plumbing is essential.

Assessment

You will be assessed in the work place by the suport officer for plumbing
