GCSE National ICT (Full Course) at Acland Burghley School

Course description

Students following ICT as a full course will be following a work related course in ICT, equivalent into further education by to two GCSE’s. In the compulsory 1 lesson a week you will work on Unit 1 and a half unit (either one of unit 20, 21, 22,23). In the rest of your time you will then work on a further 1½ units. Aims: • To develop your knowledge and understanding of information & Communication Technology. • To develop your ability to work independently and effectively using acquired ICT skills, knowledge and concepts. • To enable you to develop knowledge and understanding in specialist areas of ICT such as Animation, Web design etc., with an understanding and appreciation of the links to the world of work. • To assist with progression into further education by developing skills, knowledge and understanding needed to access further education programmes. Course content You will need to complete one half unit of whatever is left over from unit 20, 21, 22 or 23 and then complete a full unit which maybe Web page creation, Digital imaging. You will continue to use, develop and extend the ICT skills and knowledge you attained at Key Stage 3. You will need to work steadily at coursework – not leaving things to the last minute and you will have a series of deadlines to help you. You will be expected to continue with your coursework for homework. How will I be assessed? All work is internally assessed and externally moderated and you will have a series of deadlines to help you. There is no written examination. Grades are recorded as Pass (GCSE Grade C), Merit (GCSE Grade B) or Distinction (GCSE Grade A/A*). Head of Department: Mr Laurencin
