Bench Joinery Diploma Level 3 at Brockenhurst College

Course description

This course will:

  • provide a specialist work-related qualification in site carpentry and joinery.
  • prepare you for employment and/or to provide career development opportunities for those already in work.
  • expand on what you have already learnt on the Level 2 course or what you already know at an intermediate level.

Entry requirements

Literacy and Numeracy at appropriate level for Apprentices in the trade.

Appropriate GCSEs (normally at least four passes at grade D or above, to include Science, Mathematics and a subject testing the use of English), however this will depend on previous experience, please call us for an informal chat.

Appropriate GCSEs (normally at least two passes at grade D or above, to include Mathematics and English).

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out as you progress through the course.  This will be in the form of externally set exams, Health and Safety on line test and practical assessments.

Future opportunities

A highly skilled operative is always in demand and the skills and knowledge will help you become more employable.  This course also provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as an Apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery NVQ Level 3.

With further training or study, students may progress into careers in the Construction industry including:

  • Bench Joinery
  • Construction & Built Environment National Certificate
  • HNC in Construction
  • Professional/Management

This certificate in Bench Joinery prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course, such as:

  • Apprenticeship in Bench Joinery - NVQ level 3

Further information

This is a practical, work-related course, that may require some work experience.

You will be taught by means of practical demonstration and hands on experience. All materials and tools are provided but safety footwear is required in the workshop and work clothes are recommended. No formal assessment takes place but you will be given feedback as to how to improve your skills and techniques.
