Beauty Therapy City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma at Guildford College

Course description

A nationally recognised qualification designed to provide an understanding of the beauty industry and theory of the human anatomy at Level 2. 

All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

Course content

Topics: manicure, pedicure, facials, make-up, eye treatments, waxing, working in the beauty industry, health and safety, client care and communication, promote products and services to clients, salon reception duties, nail art, head massage.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved a Level 1 beauty qualification, with either a GCSE grade A*-C in English or maths, or 2 GCSEs at grades A*-C or equivalent including either English or maths.

You must demonstrate proven interest in the industry and have good references from your school or equivalent. You should also have a minimum of 80% attendance from your school/work/college.

Assessment

Formal on-line exam, assignment and practical assessments.

Financial information

You should allow for the following additional costs: uniform, equipment, essential book list (to be advised), files and resources at a cost of approximately £285.

An education visit cost is included in the additional cost.

Future opportunities

Beauty Therapy City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma or work in salons, department store, hotels or health spas.
