Children and Young People's Workforce Intermediate Apprenticeship at Shipley College

Course description

This course is ideal if you want to work with 0-19 year olds.

You learn how to care for, protect and support children and young people’s development and learning. Develop the skills and knowledge needed for a career in a range of Early Years, Care and Education roles, including that of teaching assistant. It is also a good starting point if you want to go on to train to be a teacher.

You need to enjoy working with children and to have a responsible attitude and commitment to this type of work.

Please note, you may be required to take Functional Skills in English, maths & ICT.

Entry requirements

  • First of all you need to find an apprenticeship vacancy in your chosen area. 
  •  You must pass an initial assessment in English, maths & ICT. or have recently gained GCSE grades A*-C (9-4) in English and maths.
  • You will have an interview.

Future opportunities

After completing an intermediate or an advanced apprenticeship, you can progress on to further study at college or use the skills you have developed and the experience you have gained at work to progress further in your job role/career.
